What to bring for kayaking

A practical list of what's worth bringing to your kayak outing in Palm-Mar, and of what you don't need because it's already included in the activity.

The essentials for kayaking in Palm-Mar: swimwear worn underneath, a towel, sun protection, a change of clothes, and footwear that can get wet. The kayak, the paddle, the life vest and, on the tour, the snorkeling gear are already included in the activity.

Swimwear, sun protection and water are enough to head out.

The essentials

  • Swimwear worn under your clothes, so you don't have to change right before getting in the water.
  • A towel.
  • Water-resistant sun protection, applied beforehand.
  • Dry change of clothes for after the activity.
  • Footwear that can get wet (water shoes, water sandals or similar); avoid going barefoot on the volcanic terrain at the departure area.
  • A cap or hat with a chin strap, if it's useful for the walk before getting in the water.

Worth bringing, depending on your case

  • Sunglasses with a strap, if you need them and don't mind them getting wet.
  • A small dry bag if you want to bring your phone with you (not provided by Kayak Tenerife).
  • Water or a drink, especially on midday outings.
  • Some cash or a card for after the activity.

What's already included and you don't need to bring

The kayak, the paddle (or paddles, on the double) and the life vest are included in both the tour and the rental. On the tour, full snorkeling gear is also included: mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit. Check the exact details for each activity on prices.

Better not to bring

  • Valuables without waterproof protection, if you're not bringing a dry bag.
  • Footwear you don't want to get wet or filled with sand.
  • Heavy clothing that absorbs a lot of water (jeans, for example).

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear?

Not for the tour: snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit) is included. If you'd rather use your own gear, you're welcome to bring it.

Can I bring my phone or camera into the water?

It's your responsibility and at your own risk if you decide to bring it; if it doesn't have waterproof protection, the safest option is to leave it stored somewhere dry.

What clothing is best for kayaking?

Swimwear worn under light, comfortable clothing that can get wet; avoid fabrics that become heavy when soaked.
