All Kayak Tenerife activities — guided tour, single and double kayak rental, and paddle boarding — depart from a single point: Palm-Mar, in the municipality of Arona. We have no departures of our own in Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas: if you're staying there, getting to Palm-Mar is part of the plan.
Palm-Mar as a base for kayaking in the south
When looking for where to kayak in south Tenerife, most real options sit along a fairly short stretch of coast between Los Cristianos and Palm-Mar. Within it, Palm-Mar stands out for sheltered water almost all year, direct access to the sea with no pier needed, and fewer crowds than the busier beaches of Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas. It's a convenient starting point whether you're based in the south or travelling for a day from elsewhere on the island.
Palm-Mar is where we work with our own local operator, Adventure Time Tenerife. If you'd rather have an area with many more bookable activities (from external providers), kayak in Los Cristianos has the widest offer on the island.
Options from Palm-Mar
From Palm-Mar you can choose between a guided trip or going out on your own:
- Kayak and snorkeling tour — guided, 2 hours, medium level.
- Single kayak rental — on your own, 90 minutes.
- Double kayak rental — on your own, as a couple or with a companion, 90 minutes.
- Paddle boarding (SUP) — 90 minutes.
Los Cristianos, the other option in the south
Los Cristianos is the tourist area closest to Palm-Mar along the coast, in the same municipality of Arona. Unlike Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas, you don't need to travel to Palm-Mar here: Los Cristianos has its own kayak offer, much wider than ours, bookable through GetYourGuide. Full details, with the most-reviewed trips, in kayak in Los Cristianos.
Getting there from Costa Adeje
Costa Adeje is north of Los Cristianos, further from Palm-Mar. We haven't verified an exact driving or bus time from Costa Adeje to Palm-Mar, so we don't publish it as a firm figure: we recommend working it out with GPS or the TITSA app at the time of travel. For kayak trips booked on GetYourGuide for this area, see kayak near Puerto Colón.
Getting there from Playa de las Américas
Playa de las Américas sits on the same tourist axis as Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos, north of Palm-Mar. As above, we don't publish an exact distance or travel time without checking it with an official source: use a GPS or check the relevant bus line on the day.

Which option to choose
If it's your first time kayaking or you prefer to be accompanied, the guided tour from Palm-Mar is the simplest option: you need no experience and there's a guide throughout. If you already have some confidence and prefer to go at your own pace, a free rental (single or double) gives you more flexibility. Detailed comparison in the single or double kayak guide.
